100+ Places to Promote Your Post Or Design

Blogging is a business. Every business product needs to be promoted in order to be noticed so you can benefit from your work. If you are a designer who loves creating awesome content and think how to promote it this post is for you. And for anyone who wants the world to see what you have to say link submission comes really handy.

When I write posts/tutorials I do want it to be read by people so I’m thinking of how to get my work promoted. During my Web travelling I have gathered names of most useful places where I can submit my content and get some free traffic. I want to share the list with my readers.

How does that work? You fill the form indicating you name/blog title/post url/post description and push the submit button. Most of the link submissions are manually administered. If your content fits the criteria your post title and description will be placed to the stream on the home page and anyone can see it.

You must be providing links that are relevant and useful to the design community. Make sure the url is correct and  title and description are attracting attention. You want to stand from the crowd, don’t you?

Generally there are three types of how you can submit your design work:

1. Catalogues - you submit your tutorial/post to the catalogue without any styling and image, it will appear in the stream just like twitters without any special recognition. Catalogues do not drive as much traffic but this can be a good start to get more readers. They are much quicker ways of promoting as you don’t have to register to a load of different sites and wait for verification emails etc.
2. Registration required catalogues - same thin as Catalogues only you need to be registered to post your links.
3. Design resources – they pay for every accepted tutorial you write for them (up to $150). This is always nice to have some cash in your pocket but note that you will have no rights for your submitted tutorial. All you can expect is “About author” box and url to your site. You are not allowed to re-submit one tutorial to a number of resources.

If you are a Tutorial Writer out to make fast cash, then paid submissions are definitely the way forward. Sites like PSDTuts will pay you $150 for a successful tutorial submission. You will also be able to build up a name for yourself and get people talking about your work a lot quicker.

As we outlined earlier, these sites are generally better at diverting traffic to your site, for three simple reasons:

1. They usually allow you to upload an image to show how awesomely cool your content is.
2. More people read the tutorials than the user-link feed.
3. It’s harder for spammers to dive your links into spam bog.

You must register to these sites in order to submit your links. It sounds annoying, but the returns you get mean you would be crazy not to. You can get as much as 500 visitors per day. Here is a list I came up with:

Which way is right for you?

It depends on your goals. If you are a tutorial writer and want to earn some fast cash then you should try design resources.

If you are building your own network you should avoid such services either paidful or not, and post content to Catalogues or registration-required Catalogues.

But they definitely increase your traffic, and they do get your design work noticed.
