Comment on other blogs
Yes, building strong relationships with other bloggers is the key of success. It’s all about communication. Make sure you are polite and friendly to others when you are talking to them, do build a strong community around you (not a bunch of spammers). To archive this you need to grow yourself and be on top so people will be interested in you and your thoughts and ideas and will keep going back to your blog to learn more from you. Do promote yourself and your blog posts – leave the relevant comments on other blogs, not just “Great post!” or “Keep going”, this is really stupid. You should express yourself – make people see how creative you are and post comments to those posts you have something to say about. Don’t spam.
And leave the link back to your blog as it is allowed when you post the comment. If people find your comment wise and relevant they will click on the link to your blog and will be coming back to find out what you have to say on the subject.
You can make a conversation with the author of other plog post or with any of other commentators inviting them to come to your blog and see what you got on the topic (of course if you have something).
