Recently I was travelling across the web looking for inspiration and ran into beautiful artwork of Polish graphic designer and digital illustrator Wojciech Magierski on http://www.magierski.pl/.
Today we have an interview with Wojciech and hope to get even more positive energy and to draw some inspiration.
What is really amazing is that his work is full of energy, colors and depth. You can take a look at his mind-blowing set of works at http://www.magierski.pl/#portfolio
1. Hello, Wojciech. What a pleasure to interview so talented designer like you. Let us know you a little better. Tell us about yourself. I know you are from a wonderful city Cracow.
I have been to that city one day and I will never forget the view of its miraculous streets. I’m not surprised you possess lots of inspiration and ideas living there…
Wojciech: Hello. I was born in 1983 in Poland, I live in Krakow. I have been working in an advertising agency for 3 years and I am interested in graphics for a long time. At the beginning of designing I did only some kind of inscriptions. I wasn’t interested in making illustrations, perhaps because the versions of photoshop were more poor, hehe, but at the moment I’m focussed on the illustrations and fotomanipulations mainly.

2. I wasn’t able to completely define your style. It is a kind of photo manipulation but what else? How do you define your style?
Wojciech: To be honest all the time I’m looking for my style. I like clean and dynamic projects, nice forms and compositions. I’m always focussed on these things. As I said, the most important is the composition. Sometimes I see projects rich in visual effects, but this is not a good way to get a nice
illustration. You must to think about composition and light … These things seem to be insignificant but they play the largest role in the project.

3. What is your favorite project you were involved in?
Wojciech: I have several favorites such projects in which I participated. Recently it was Redd’s. I was invited to a competition organized by the Kompania Piwowarska. The largest brewery in Poland. After several weeks of fighting, I was lucky and managed a victory over me. It was worth because the scope of the project is quite large – the whole of Poland. It was nice to be working, and I recall it well.

4. Tell us about the process of creating your works? What tools do you usually use?
Wojciech: I usually use Adobe Photoshop CS4. Although recently I discovered some possibilities of Adobe Illustrator. It is very interesting program and in some cases much faster than Photoshop. However, this is a vector application which has some limitations, so at the first place is still Photoshop. I tried to check my skills in Cinema 4D, very cool and easy 3D program.
In the future I plan to return to Cinema 4D. Because I can quickly create renders which are worthy to using in creating the illustrations.

4.5. …Maybe some secrets…. :)
Wojciech: A true magician does not reveal his tricks :)
5. That’s for sure ;) Could you give some advices to people who are willing to start as designer? Maybe something that encouraged you to put you foot on the designer way? Have something or maybe someone influenced to your occupational choice?
Wojciech: Of course, the most important is the training and experience. You really need to devote a lot of time to reach something. But it’s a clear case. I know many designers. At the beginning, we have created (looking at it today) not professional designs. Then we have thought that these are good projects ha ha … but it means that we still improve our skills :)
Always worth to try to fight a few months and see if that is exectly what we want to do. If not it’s better to give up and do something different. None of us knows what talent we have… have to discover them

6. Are there any people that you are admiring? Do you have some teachers or did you learn yourself?
Wojciech: I’m rather self-taught. I graduated graphic studies. But our teachers did not
learn us how to do something, but simply we have been given some tasks and we had to solve them, of course, under the supervision of professors who leaded us.
Regarding people whom I admire, is a really lot of them.

7. Of course everyone desires to know where do you find inspiration for your awesome work?
Wojciech: Already once I wrote that the inspiration you can get rather easy, often near
us. It is worth to concentrate and look around. There are really a lot of things which can inspire you. Morning browsing web sites also often helps. You can visit abduzeedo.com, behance.net, deviantart.com, etc.

8. I can’t wait to see your future work! I wish you to have even more success and never-ending source of ideas. Thank you very much, Wojciech, for this interview; it is honor to meet with such talented designer. You are welcome to leave some words for our readers.
Wojciech: Thank you for the invitation, it was my pleasure. I wish you all the best.
I think Russia has a lot of talented people and I think it would be nice to know
them ever.
